The Black Queens have begun their 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign on a flying note following a 2-0 win over Cape Verde.
Two goals scored in each half of the encounter at the Moulay Rachid Stadium in Casablanca ensured that the 2024 Bronze medallists walked away with the maximum points.
It was an early goal from striker Doris Boaduwaa, who lobbed the ball past the Cape Verdean goalkeeper in the 6th minute.
The Queens failed to put the ball at the back of the net again after several attempts.
In the 54th minute, Cape Verdean defender Eleia Vieira drove the ball into her own net to put her side 2-0 down.
While Ghana face Cameroon in their next game on Sunday, Cape Verde will play Mali.
