The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced the official opening of campaign activities for all aspirants contesting the party’s internal elections.
In a press release on Thursday, September 10, the ruling party also announced that nominations for constituency elections will open on Tuesday, September 15.
All aspirants have been, however, cautioned to commence their campaigns in accordance with the party’s rules, regulations and directives governing the electoral process.
“For the avoidance of doubt, this campaign window does not extend to persons who are pursuing or intend to pursue Parliamentary ambitions, including sitting Members of Parliament and persons
currently considering or expressing an intention to contest Parliamentary elections,” the press release signed by Deputy General Secretary Barbara Serwaa Asamoah observed.
“Such persons shall not engage in campaigning activities under this window,” it warned.
“Any infraction of this directive shall be treated seriously and dealt with accordingly in accordance with the Party’s rules and regulations.”
The party indicated that all payments for aspirants in respect of picking and filing of forms shall be through its online portal.
It further indicated that aspirants as well as their proposers and endorsers must be members in good standing, having fully paid their dues for the last four years and settled any outstanding dues.
“The National Secretariat urges all Constituencies, aspirants and members to conduct themselves with discipline, decorum and respect for the Party’s democratic values throughout the electoral process.”
