Greater Accra NDC Regional Secretary hopeful Ebenezer Arkutu has unveiled a six-point development agenda focused on strengthening party structures, supporting members’ welfare and creating economic opportunities across the region’s 34 constituencies.
The proposed agenda includes permanent party offices, a regional medical aid fund, educational support, business ventures, free legal assistance and an accessible complaints and feedback system.
Under his infrastructure plan, Mr Arkutu pledges to acquire land and begin construction of a permanent regional secretariat within 18 months.
He also proposes a Constituency Infrastructure Fund and a Corporate Adopt-A-Constituency initiative to support constituencies without offices.
To improve members’ welfare, he plans to establish a Regional Health and Medical Aid Fund to assist members facing critical illnesses, surgeries and medical emergencies.
The fund would draw support from voluntary contributions, participating MPs and appointees, patrons, and fundraising activities, with independent trustees overseeing its management.
His educational proposals include a scholarship desk to connect members to local and international opportunities, a Senior High School placement support desk and a tertiary admissions hub.
On economic empowerment, Mr Arkutu proposes establishing an NDC logistics and printing business, commercial agricultural ventures and an interest-free revolving microcredit scheme for party women and young people.
He also envisions constituency equity participation, with profits distributed through quarterly dividends.
The manifesto further promises a Regional Legal Aid Unit to provide eligible members with free legal support, backed by a Legal Defence Fund, alongside a complaints and feedback desk accessible through a toll-free hotline, WhatsApp, an online portal and physical suggestion boxes.
Mr Arkutu’s proposals are aimed at building a stronger, more responsive and financially sustainable regional party structure.
Their implementation, however, would require collaboration with party executives, elected representatives, patrons and other stakeholders.
He has rallied party members around the call, “3y3 Zu, 3y3 Za!”, urging collective commitment to building a stronger NDC in Greater Accra.
