The Ashanti Regional Police Command of the Ghana Police Service has announced the arrest of Samuel Christopher Osei Anto over the shooting to death of George Atuguba and his niece, Irene Atuguba at NTHC Estates in Sakumono.
Reports say a financial dispute ensued between the suspect and the deceased, leading to the shooting.
Investigations by the police led to the arrest of Osei Anto at Tikrom near Ejisu in the Ashanti Region.
“Acting on intelligence regarding the suspect’s whereabouts, a police team proceeded to his hideout and successfully apprehended him,” a statement issued by the Command said.
During the operation, the police added, a Smith & Wesson pistol together with seven rounds of ammunition was retrieved from him.
Osei Anto is currently in police custody assisting investigations.
The recovered firearm and ammunition have been retained as exhibits.
