NPP manifesto theme gets thumbs-up

A Senior Lecturer at the Department of General Studies at the Methodist University College, Dr. Bonsu Osei-Owusu, has described the 2020 theme for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as apt and coherent.

The lecturer considers the 2020 manifesto as a continuation of the 2016 manifesto and seeks to completely strap up and execute the 2016 manifesto policies.

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Saturday, August 22 launched its 2020 manifesto in the Central Region ahead of the December 7 general elections.

The manifesto is under the theme: ‘Leadership of Service: Protecting Our Progress, Transforming Ghana for All’.

Reacting to the theme on Onua FM‘s Election Command Center show, Dr. Osei Bonsu expressed contentment for the selection and prayed that the NPP would stick to the execution plan in transforming Ghana.

He told host Nana Okyere Awurukuo that the NPP 2020 manifesto captures most of the party’s 2016 policies, reflecting on what the party has accomplished so far and finding a different approach to the solution to the setbacks.

He endorsed the manifesto, saying it is so far so good and deemed the theme as appropriate, consistent and lucid.

“Political parties especially governing party’s over the years have been ignoring manifestos that won them the four-year mandate yet goes ahead to make new and different promises which are not achievable but if I look at [NPP’s] manifesto it seems to be a continuation of last four years’ manifesto.

“And most of the policies and promises made in the manifesto are something they are already doing yet finding different approaches to the solution,” he added.

Dr. Osei Bonsu lauded NPP for pledging to scrap the guarantor system to allow all tertiary students access education on loan basis and pay later.

He believes it is a step in the right direction which would go a long way of easing pressure on students to look for guarantors and as well help to trace students to pay back the loans after school.
