Members of the Northern Regional Security Council (REGSEC) are in a crunch meeting with doctors and members of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNA) at the Tamale Teaching Hospital.
Though the exact motive behind the meeting is not immediately known, it is widely believed it is to plead with the doctors and nurses not embark on their intended strike.
REGSEC fears the strike, which was necessitated by a recent attack on the Chief Executive Officer of the Hospital, will affect healthcare delivery in the Northern Region.
The health workers on Tuesday declared the indefinite strike to demand the arrest of the youth believed to be members of Kandahar Boys, a pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) vigilante group.
They had ordered CEO Dr David Zaawumya Akolbila to leave his office.

The doctors and nurse had threatened to withdraw all out-patient department and emergency services, which is already biting hard as some patients who arrived at the Tamale Teaching Hospital on Wednesday to seek medical services have been left stranded.
Consulting rooms remain locked.
