The coronavirus infections in Ghana have seen the highest ever confirmations in a day after 758 cases were recorded. The latest confirmations, according to the Ghana Health Service (GHS), are records as of Wednesday, July 1. The new cases have taken the total cumulative cases of the country from 18,580 to 19,388. The recoveries-cum-discharges are now 14,330 and the deaths are still 117. This, as a result, leaves 4,941 active cases being treated and managed by the country. Management of popular musician Nii Addo Quaynor, popularly known as Tinny ‘Aletse’, has debunked rumours that he has tested positive for coronavirus. In a statement signed by the General Manager of Kankpe records, Nii Kweitey Quaynor, Tinny is healthy and has not in anyway tested positive for coronavirus. This follows a Facebook post by an industry friend, Nii Funny, on his timeline. Nii Funny suggested that the artiste has tested positive. Minister of Communications and Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West Constituency Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has expressed sympathies for fellow MP Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah following his resignation from government. Leroy Sane says Bayern Munich is a “great club with big goals” after he signed a five-year contract at the Bundesliga side. The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has warned persons importing rapid diagnostic test (RDT) kits to the country to go through the necessary procedure, specifically being validated within the appropriate setting and target population, before use. According to the FDA, the concerns and calls from a section of the public for the use of RDT kits for coronavirus tests must be with caution. Ghana’s testing laboratories are said to be overwhelmed with calls made for the importation of more RDT kits to meet the demand. The Auditor-General has written to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to reconsider his decision asking him to proceed on accumulated leave. Daniel Yaw Domelevo believes that the president’s decision was taken due to the embarrassment his government was suffering because of his work, as evidenced in a correspondence from the Chairman of the Audit Service Board together with public pronouncements by ministers. A mobile money vendor, Jakpa Brakinso Fuseini, believed to be in his 30s has been stabbed multiple times by an unknown masked man at Fufulso in the Central Gonja District of the Savannah Region.
