Residents of Ketu South municipality have been urged to go about their daily duties “without fear”. This followed a meeting by the Volta Regional Peace Council with authorities, local and traditional. The Council paid a visit to the municipality on Tuesday, June 30 following concerns raised about the presence of security officers in the border town. The presence of the joint security team has generated agitation among the residents, some of whom have threatened to retaliate in case of attack by any security officer. The Minister of Defence, Dominic Nitiwul, had told the nation last Monday that the security officers…
It is absolutely horrendous and shameful that (antique) local language literature books have virtually become extinct in Ghana. Growing up, my siblings and I read a lot of these books, specifically Akan literature books including Mpuasa Ntiamoah, Guasohantan, ɔsabarima, Obeede, Aku Sika, Yaw Donkɔ, Merehua among others. These books were not only entertaining but also didactic as they taught a lot of morals, as well as helped us understand our cultural heritage and history. Guasohantan for instance advises against extravagance and arrogance while advocating humility. ɔsabarima is a play that recounts the Akuapem and Akwamu war. The story reaffirms how…
For more than 50 years, Ghana has depended on the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in both the formal and informal sectors for economic survival. Unfortunately, Government (since independence) cannot boast of any reliable and accurate data on this marginalised sector that contributes about 70% to Ghana’s GDP and account for about 92% of business in the Country (ISSER, 2015). FLF Africa is pleased to know that the National Board for Small Scale Industries (established by an Act of Parliament of the Third Republic of Ghana and operationalised in 1985) has the mandate and vision of creating a vibrant…

The US is buying nearly all the next three months’ projected production of Covid-19 treatment remdesivir from US manufacturer Gilead. The US health department announced on Tuesday it had agreed to buy 500,000 doses for use in American hospitals. Tests suggest remdesivir cuts recovery times, though it is not yet clear if it improves survival rates. Gilead did sign a licensing deal in May for production outside the US but it is still in its early stages. “President Trump has struck an amazing deal to ensure Americans have access to the first authorised therapeutic for Covid-19,” Department of Health and…
Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa Constituency Kobina Tahir Hammond has given notice he will issue legal proceedings against Joy FM shortly for a recording which has brought him public condemnation. He has already lodged an official complaint with the National Media Commission (NMC). In explaining himself, as put out in a statement he issued on Tuesday,…
Following the cancelation of the Ghana Premier League on Tuesday, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) will continue discussions on Thursday, July 9 to make decisions on when the league can return. Also on the agenda, the GFA’s Executive Council will decide when the next Congress will be held. The GFA has announced…

Some progress has been made and it is in this light that TV3, the best station when it comes to entertainment, is once again out with another entertainment show. In recent times, several stakeholders…
