The Municipal Chief Executive of Ketu South, Elliot Edem Agbenorwu, has acknowledged the presence of military officers in the municipality, indicating their services were deliberately sought by the Ketu South Municipal Assembly in order to help fight Covid-19. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has supported the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital to locally produce hand sanitizers to reduce the risk of Covid-19 infection in health facilities in Ghana. Through this intervention, UNDP has donated 11,150 litres of hand sanitizers (5,000 pieces of 230ml bottles and 2,000 pieces of 5 litres refill bottles, with 162 dispensers) to the Ministry of Health to support 21 key facilities playing leading roles in the testing and management of Covid-19 cases across the country. The Second Vice-Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region, Sam Cudjoe, has passed on. The cause of death has not been established, but family sources say he suffered a high blood pressure. Sam Cudjoe was a staunch party man and an active politician. Known for his commitment and dedication to see the NPP succeed, he rose through the ranks and was once the Regional Secretary and Communication Officer for the party. More than 100 people in northern India have been killed by dozens of lightning strikes across two states in recent days, officials say. The disaster management team in Bihar state said 83 were killed there, while another 20 were in hospital with injuries. At least 20 more people are reported dead in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh. Nigeria’s government has condemned Thursday’s attack on its embassy in Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta, by its citizens living in the country. The Nigerian nationals stormed the embassy and vandalised vehicles in the compound. They accused embassy officials of not offering help when they are allegedly harassed by Indonesian immigration officials. They said a Nigerian national reportedly fell from a storey building while escaping from immigration officials.
