Professor (Mrs) Rita Akosua Dickson will take over from Professor Kwasi Obiri-Danso for a four-year term, starting August 1, 2020. The Supreme Court has given the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) the go-ahead to compile a new voter register for the December 7 elections. In its judgment, the Court ordered that any case filed or would be filed against the compilation of the register is nulled. Heavy security from the Accra Regional Police Command of the Ghana Police Service supervised the demolition of two warehouses situated on a 2.59-acre land at Flower Port on the Spintex Road in Accra. Ghana’s coronavirus case count has risen from 15,013 cases on Wednesday to 15,472 on Thursday, June 25. The new total cumulative cases were confirmed by the Director General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, at the bi-weekly Covid-19 update on Thursday. Dr Kuma-Aboagye indicated that there are no new deaths, keeping the figure still at 95. He also said the number of recoveries had risen to 11,433 while the active cases are 3,947. Russia has begun voting on constitutional reforms that could allow President Vladimir Putin to serve another two terms in office. A Senior Seismologist has advised Ghanaians to brace up for more earth tremors this year, and even that could lead to earthquakes. Nicholas Opoku, who is with the Geological Survey Authority, said Ghana’s capital city Accra, in particular, is an earthquake-prone area and therefore could suffer the natural occurrence any time.
