A large part of Ghana’s capital city, Accra, and other surrounding areas experienced earth tremors late Wednesday. The slight movements of the earth occurred between 10:40pm and 10:50pm. The magnitude of the tremors has not been officially measured but most residents who felt the incident said it happened three times in a spate of 10 minutes. The Takoradi Technical University (TTU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Sekondi-Takoradi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (STCCI) to develop and promote joint research and help build the capacities of the students for the job market. All African countries now have laboratories that can process coronavirus tests, the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) said. Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus had earlier advised countries to consider their ability to test and trace before easing any lockdown measures. Headmaster of Odorgonno Senior High School Samuel Mensah has dismissed reports that some six returning students have contracted coronavirus and are in isolation. He told our reporter Grace Hammoah Asare on Wednesday that four of the returning students indeed recorded high temperatures and were placed in isolation for further checks. The Minister of Education, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, is on self-isolation at the University of Ghana Medical Center (UGMC) in Accra after being suspected of contracting coronavirus.
