Central Region has become the seventh region in the country to record a case of coronavirus. The case, involving a 57-year-old man who returned from the UK on Tuesday, March 17, was confirmed by the Central Region Minister, Kwamena Duncan. So far, 13 contacts of the patient have been traced. The Christ Apostolic Church International, Bantama Central, has donated alcohol sanitizers, assorted food items worth GH¢40,000 and an undisclosed amount of money to the needy and the vulnerable in the church. Two hundred and eighty Saudi doctors have joined their French colleagues at the front-lines to battle against the novel coronavirus in France. Seventy-three new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed by the Ghana Health Service (GHS), taking Ghana’s total case count to 287 as of midnight of Monday, April 6. Ecowas has offered to support the 15 member states in the fight against Covid-19. The sub-regional body has made available a financial package, pooled from its own resources, for the purchase of medical supplies and equipment to aid in the fight against the pandemic. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been moved to intensive care in hospital after his coronavirus symptoms “worsened”, Downing Street has said. A four-year-old female Malayan tiger at the Bronx Zoo has tested positive for the coronavirus. The tiger, named Nadia, is believed to be the first known case of an animal infected with Covid-19 in the US. The Bronx Zoo, in New York City, says the test result was confirmed by the National Veterinary Services Laboratory in Iowa. Nadia, along with six other big cats, is thought to have been infected by an asymptomatic zoo keeper.
