The Director of the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER), Professor Peter Quartey, says government must target the agricultural sector in its economic efforts to recover from the Covid-19 crisis in the near future. More than 20,000 people have now died with coronavirus in UK hospitals, the Department of Health has announced. The latest figures showed a total of 20,319 deaths in the UK, up by 813 on the previous day. At the government’s daily briefing, the home secretary described the figure as a “tragic and terrible milestone”. A professor of epidemiology has raised concerns about the kind of testing being undertaken by Ghana in the fight against coronavirus. A Virologist with the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research in Tropical Medicine (KCCR) has admonished government to tread cautiously over its assertion that the virus that causes coronavirus has been contained.
