Movie producer Socrate Sarfo believes strongly that women constantly bemoan that the creative industry is not an equal playing field because they lack confidence. The producer, who is also the Director of Creative Arts in charge of Programmes & Projects at the National Commission on Culture, is of the view that there are no rules or systems hindering any female artiste or actress from flourishing in the industry. His comments come in the wake of constant complaints by some females and critics that men seem to always get more opportunities than their female counterparts. The Ghanaian creative industry, according to…
A drone company that had to abandon its fast-food delivery tests has partnered with Ireland’s health authority to deliver prescriptions instead. Manna Aero is working with the Health Service Executive to prescribe and deliver medicines and other essential supplies to vulnerable people in the small rural town of Moneygall. The company’s trial uses autonomous drones made in Wales. And it is looking at the possibility of testing in the UK within weeks. The UK has already announced a test of drones to carry supplies to the Isle of Wight during the pandemic. Also, in Florida, care home residents will soon…
The Black Star Square and other parks across the country which on any normal May Day celebration would be filled with thousands of workers from the labour sector will be entirely empty due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. Activities to mark this special day for workers have been annulled by Trade Union Congress (TUC) and other stakeholders in a press statement released earlier. According to the statement, the cancellation is in compliance with restrictions on movement and the ban on public gatherings nationwide as issued by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. In spite of this, a member of…

For example, the experience of love can be totally different during the honeymoon phase of a relationship versus after five years of dating someone. Ghana’s number one television network TV3 will this Saturday, May 2, 2020…
Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram Constituency Sam Nartey George has descended heavily on Convener of pressure group Mass Action Committee (MAC) Atik Mohammed. The former General Secretary of the People’s National Convention (PNC) had called for the arrest of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) lawmaker for storming the City Escape Hotel at Airport last Saturday to question the basis of a meeting being held by some officials of the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC). Sam George had secured a high court injunction on the meeting at the hotel’s branch in Prampram and so went to the Airport branch – in the…
There is “clear-cut” evidence that a drug can help people recover from the coronavirus, say US officials. Remdesivir cut the duration of symptoms from 15 days down to 11 in clinical trial at hospitals around the world. The full details have not been published, but experts said it would be a “fantastic result” if confirmed, but not a “magic bullet” for the disease. A drug would have the potential to save lives, ease pressure on hospitals and allow parts of lockdown to be lifted. Remdesivir was originally developed as an Ebola treatment. It is an antiviral and works by attacking…
COVID-19 pandemic presents the globe and specifically Ghana with several health dilemmas for Public Health experts and watchers of the health system to ponder over. The questions that come to mind are the ethics and morality of the measures in this era of liberalism and emphasis on personal autonomy when it comes health, as opposed to the archaic principle of paternalism which placed the health providers as father figure (in-loco parentis) to the patients/clients and therefore relegated the inputs of patients/clients to the background. Covid-19 pandemic has seen the implementation of draconian measures using judiciary arsenals such as Imposition of…

Asante Kotoko have settled the $240,000 debt slapped on them by FIFA following the arbitration of the case involving the illegal transfer of Emmanuel Clottey from Tunisian side Esperance in 2015. The ruling was given on Friday, April 10. But speaking to Kotoko Express App, Spokesperson of the club Kennedy Boakye-Ansah said the Executive Chairman has settled the debts – $225,000 to the Blood and Golds and $15,000 to the committee…
The US economy suffered its most severe contraction in more than a decade in the first quarter of the year, as the country introduced lockdowns to slow the spread of coronavirus. The world’s largest economy sank at an annual rate of 4.8%, according to official figures released on Wednesday. It marked the first contraction since 2014, ending a record expansion. But the figures do not reflect the full crisis, since many of the restrictions were not put in place until March. Sine then, more than 26 million people in the US have filed for unemployment, and the US has seen…
