The Producer Price Inflation (PPI) year-on-year rose to 13 per cent in December from 9.9 per cent in November 2019. The rise in the PPI was influenced by the manufacturing sector. The Central Regional Police CID has arrested one Isaac Eshun, the owner of Zen Filling Station near which a police officer was shot dead on Wednesday. Before the incident, police officers had foiled a robbery attack at the fuel station. Investigations were immediately launched into the murder with the Central Regional Command assisted by the Crime Scene Management Team from the Criminal Investigations Directorate at headquarters. Fifty-five year old Haruna Iddrisu, driver, was on Thursday convicted for stealing a car battery and tape recorder at Suntreso in Kumasi. He has therefore been sentenced to one year imprisonment by the Nkawie Circuit Court in the Atwima-Nwabiagya District of Ashanti. Haruna who pleaded guilty was convicted on his own plea. A banker implicated in the embezzlement and money-laundering case against Africa’s richest woman, Isabel dos Santos, has been found dead in Lisbon. Nuno Ribeiro da Cunha, 45, managed the account of oil firm Sonangol, formerly chaired by Ms Dos Santos, at the small Portuguese lender EuroBic.
