President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has thrown a jab at former President John Mahama, asking the latter to show him where his so called “unprecedented” roads in the Savannah Region are. The president indicated that the numerous appeals for roads he receives from chiefs are an indication that the Mahama administration lied about their unprecedented roads. President Akufo-Addo was responding to an appeal by the Chief of Kpembe, Kpembewura Banbagne Ndefeso, for the completion of the main Tamale-Salaga-Makango road. According to the chief, the road has been a major problem of the people of East Gonja over two decades. The…
The Member of Parliament of Ahanta West Constituency in the Western Region, Ebenezer Kojo Kum, has described as laughable a proclamation by a former District Chief Executive for the area, Kwesi Biney, that he is the “Messiah to take Ahanta West to the promised land”. Lawyer Kojo Kum insisted that the former DCE cannot hold himself as the “so called Ahantaman messiah” when the development history of Ahanta West shows that he did nothing monumental during his tenure. “When you left us in 2009, we are at a standstill and waiting for you…that you will come back in 2020 before…

A former manager of Hiplife group 5Five has stated on 3FM’s Showbiz 927 that the group set the pace for Afrobeats in Ghana. Afrobeats, a musical genre with a fusion of West African musical styles, has influence from hiplife, hip-hop, dancehall and highlife. It has gradually gained grounds in Ghana and Africa as a whole. According to Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, popularly known as Bulldog, the amount of work 5Five did will not be erased totally or forgotten and that even the trend that brought the whole Azonto thing, they actually set the trend as well. He made this assertion…
Ghana (ranked 10th) has become one of the most prosperous nations in Africa, built on a strong tradition of democratic stability, widely respected governance institutions, and a well-educated population, free from large-scale violence. With increased investment and tourism, Ghana’s economy has consistently outgrown sub-Saharan Africa. The challenge for Ghana now is to sustain this economic success and convert it into better living standards, analysts have observed. Many Ghanaians have seen rising inequality while their living standards and employment opportunities have not improved. Most measures of Ghana’s economic performance have slipped over the last 10 years: Ghana ranks 14th for economic…
Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensa-Bonsu does not like to be referred to as a ‘Mugabe’ in politics. He recalls how the Speaker of Parliament, Reverend Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye, had said that description is not a befitting one for good lawmakers. “If we want good examples of democratic leaders, perhaps, Mugabe, with respect to him, may not be one of the best to be cited,” he stated on TV3’s Hot Issues over the weekend. Osei Kyei-Mensa-Bonsu has been the Member of Parliament for Suame Constituency since 1997. He is the only surviving Fourth Republican New Patriotic Party (NPP) lawmaker. He has…

The Confederation of African Football’s (Caf) Executive Committee has voted not to renew the mandate of Fifa’s secretary general Fatma Samoura who had been working as General Delegate for Africa for the past six months. Samoura was given the role from 1 August 2019 by football’s world body following a reported request by Caf. Fifa confirmed that Samoura’s mandate had come to an end on 1 February 2020 and that the global body’s six-month mission in Africa had been “completed successfully.” At its Executive Committee meeting in Rabat, Morocco on Sunday, Caf’s members also agreed to analyse Fifa’s set of…
An appointee in the Mahama administration, Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong, has described as false and misleading reports of alleged bribery involving the procurement of CASA C-295 aircrafts for the military. Judgement pronounced on Friday, January 31 in a UK Crown Court cited how a top Ghana official was bribed in the transaction to procure the military aircrafts. The transactions spanned between 2009 and 2015. But a statement signed by the former Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Mrs Appiah Oppong, on Sunday said the reports making rounds are distorting the facts of the judgement. “Indeed, the Approved Judgment of the Crown…
