The District Chief Executive of Pusiga, Abdulai Zubeiru, had to be rushed to the Akunye Memorial Hospital in Pusiga on Saturday, September 28 after he fainted. Mr Zubeiru fainted immediately he was declared loser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primary in the Pusiga Constituency. Mr Zubeiru polled 197 votes, just seven votes short of winner Abdul Karim Dubure’s. Per the results, Mr Dubure will face Laadi Ayi Ayamba in the 2020 elections. Despite scheduling to hold parliamentary primaries in what it terms ‘orphan constituencies’ on Saturday, September 28, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has put on hold the exercise in six constituencies. In a circular issued by the General Secretary, John Boadu, “compelling reasons” have necessitated the suspension of the primaries in the six constituencies. The ‘orphan constituencies’ are those with seats held by the National Democratic Congress (NDC). In all, there are 106 of them. The Northern Region branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has taken on Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia over his call for Dagombas to vote for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the 2020 elections. In the latest episode in the saga of where Zimbabwe’s former President Robert Mugabe will be buried, the family has reversed a decision to have him interred at Heroes Acre in the capital, Harare. Instead he will be buried in his home region of Zvimba. The location of his grave became a source of tension between the Mugabe family and the government. Ghana won two prestigious awards at the ongoing International Civil Aviation Organization, ICAO, 40th Assembly in Montreal, Canada. Ghana was awarded the International Civil Aviation Organization Council President’s certificates for maintaining one of the highest aviation safety and security standards globally. The safety award is in recognition of Ghana obtaining Africa’s highest score in Aviation Safety Oversight after scoring a provisional Effective Implementation (EI) rate of 89.89 percent.
