Telecommunications network MTN has restored data connectivity across Ghana after two days of disruptions. The disruptions were caused by a double undersea fibre optic cable cut in Europe. The situation affected the network’s operations not only in Ghana but across 14 countries including South Africa. The chief executive of the Recording Academy, which organises the Grammy Awards, has been removed from her position just 10 days before this year’s ceremony in Los Angeles. The Executive Secretary of the National Identification Authority (NIA) Professor Kenneth Agyemang Attafuah, has revealed that the Authority has registered over 50 percent of the country’s voting population in its ongoing mass registration exercise for the issuance of the Ghana Card. “We have registered over 7.2 million people as at [Friday, January 17, 2020]. The National Identification Authority (NIA) has so far successfully registered over seven million qualified Ghanaians in the ongoing mass registration exercise for the issuance of the Ghana Card.
