The Ashanti Regional Police Command has interdicted three officers for alleged brutality against a 36-year-old man at Adonfe, near Bompata in the Ashanti Region. The three were part of the Konongo Divisional Police Task Force, which embarked on an operation last Monday leading to the death of Kofi Amponsah. The University of Ghana has dismissed reports that it has suspended investigations into the ‘sex for grades’ saga. According to the Director of Public Affairs of the University, a five-member fact-finding committee has been set up to receive complaints from victims and non-victims. Speaking on TV3’s Midday Live on Thursday, October 17, Stella Amoa said the information out there that investigations have been suspended “is incorrect”. The Madina Division of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) says it has relaxed its operations of apprehending pedestrians for failing to use the Madina-Adentan footbridges for today, Thursday, October 17, 2019. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan put US President Donald Trump’s letter “in the bin”, the BBC has been told. Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram Constituency Samuel Nartey George has vowed to expose government over what he says is the true rationale behind the increase in the Communications Service Tax (CST). He has indicated that the rationale is reason why government is not considering a withdrawal of the tax despite public displeasure at the recent increment. Liberia has been named number one in the world when it comes to helping strangers, according to the World Giving Index, an annual ranking of people’s generosity. Helping strangers is one of the three criteria the UK-based Charities Aid Foundation used to draw up the overall index of generosity. It also looked at how much money people donate to charity and how much time people give to volunteering. The index was based on a 10-year study that surveyed 1.3 million people across the globe.
