Ghana failed to successfully defend the WAFU Cup won on home soil in 2017 after Senegal’s Teranga Lions beat the Black Stars B on penalties to win the trophy on Sunday. Coincidentally, Senegal also do a host-and-win with the victory over Ghana. After a goalless stalemate in full regulation time, two goals were produced in the extra time. Senegal’s Youssouph Badji scored a minute into the final half of extra time but just three minutes later, Joseph Esso equalised for Ghana. But the Stars were unlucky during the penalty shootouts as they missed two kicks, one of which by Justice…

Italy secured their place at next year’s Euro 2020 finals by beating Greece 2-0 in Rome. After a goalless first half, Chelsea midfielder Jorginho opened the scoring from the penalty spot after Andreas Bouchalakis’ handball. Substitute Federico Bernardeschi added a late second with a dipping effort from distance. The win means Italy top Group J with 21 points, an unassailable 11 points clear of third-placed Armenia. Greece needed to win to keep their own qualification hopes alive but they rarely threatened. Italy had been booed off at half-time after failing to manage a single shot on target but they were…

Before the protesting law students embarked on their demonstration, speeches upon speeches were read by some executives of their front. Prominent among these speeches— in my view— was that by the President of the National Association of Law Students, Nii Adokwei Cudjoe. Mr. Adokwei had not only charged his students to remain steadfast to their cause of protesting for reforms in the country’s legal education but that they should vehemently resist the oppressor’s rule. “History will remember you. Do not think what you are doing [the demonstration] is in vain? We have come to the crossroads and your boldness is…

It is a dangerous thing to do if you go about repeatedly punching holes in the reputation and hard work of others. It is a dangerous company to be in if those around you are only interested in seeing others fail so they can look successful. There are a lot of interesting commonalities…
