Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Akuapem North in the Eastern Region, Dennis Edward Aboagye, has upbraided the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for their campaign against a YES vote in the upcoming referendum. Mr Aboagye expressed fret over NDC’s position, describing it as “hypocritical”, “duplicitous” and “traitorous”. He wants the general public to reject their NO campaign. Measles has killed nearly 5,000 people in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2019, authorities said, after the disease spread to all the provinces in the country. Close to a quarter of a million people have been infected this year alone. The World Health Organization (WHO) says this is the world’s largest and fastest-moving epidemic. Measles in DR Congo has now killed more than twice the number who have died of Ebola there in the last 15 months. The 470MW Karadeniz Powership Osman Khan currently located in Sekondi in the Western Region has commenced power production utilizing Ghana’s indigenous Natural Gas, Karpowership Ghana Company Limited has announced. The powership relocated from the Tema Harbour to the Western Region in August in a government stratey to make use of natural gas from the western enclave. It was to ultimately save the country millions of dollars annually. The commissioning was completed on Friday, September 6. Staff of Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) have threatened to treat all emergency works as within the regular working hours in a bid to demand all debts owed them by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and other key institutions. At a news conference in Accra, the staff said if by December 4, 2019 all debts owed the company are not settled they will embark on a sit-down strike. Financial actors in the oil and gas industry are asking for a long-term roadmap in financing in the industry. They argue that the lack of a clear roadmap on deliverables in the sector does not encourage financial institutions to do business with the companies in the sector. A cultural anthropologist, Osofo Kofitse Ahadzi, has rejected a proposal to build a national shrine for Ghanaian traditional priests. He said what they urgently need is a national holiday. An Accra High Court has dismissed an application seeking to strike out a witness statement filed by the state in the case between NDC National Chairman Samuel Ofosu Ampofo and Deputy Communication Officer Kweku Boahen, on one hand, and the state. According to the Court, though prosecution filed the witness statement after the case management, it will not be injurious to the accused.
