Ghana Medical Relief a non-profit organisation, made up of medical practitioners and volunteers from the US and Ghana, has embarked on a health outreach exercise in Anomabo in the Central Region. For four days, the team offered paediatric, urology, general medicare, dental, gynecology and obstetrics services to 3,000 people in Anomabo free of charge. The Vetting Committee of the National Democratic congress (NDC) has approved 60 parliamentary aspirants to contest in the forthcoming primaries of the Party in the Volta Region. Paul Mensah Voegborlo and William Mawuli Ahado, aspirants for Keta and North Tongu Constituencies respectively, were disqualified by the Committee chaired by Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, National Chairman of the Party. Organisers have unveiled the logo for the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games. The blue and yellow “B” emblem is meant to link the venues of the sporting events to be held as part of the games. The colour palette “represents Birmingham as the youngest city in Europe”, designers said. Cuba has accepted to train 40 brilliant but needy medical students a year from Zongos, inner cities and other deprived communities in Ghana. This follows a proposal by Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to the government of Cuba to extend the special arrangement between the two countries for the training of health personnel in deprived communities. Vice President Bawumia made the proposal when he held bilateral talks with Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel as part of a two-day official visit to the Caribbean country. A member of the Nigerian Air Force who returned a lost parcel containing 37,000 euros ($41,500; £33,300) cash has received a two-rank promotion, as part of his reward. Bashir Umar had been on patrol duties with other colleagues at an airport in the northern state of Kano when he discovered the cash.
