Private legal practitioner Maurice Ampaw has described prophets in Ghana as attention seekers instead of seeking to edify Christians. The Volta Region-based Homeland Study Group Foundation (HSGF), which is agitating for the restoration of the Western Togoland as an independent state, says it is not perturbed by the arrest of its chairman and seven other leaders by police. The Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, will embark on a two-day tour of some select constituencies in the Greater Accra Region. Eight persons believed to be the leaders of a group called Homeland Study Group Foundation have been arrested.  The group aims at seceding from Ghana to declare an independent country called Western Togoland. The arrest was made Sunday, May 5 in the course of a meeting to finalize arrangements to declare independent Western Togoland on May 9, 2019. A rainstorm has destroyed 56 houses and displaced 113 people in Kyekyewere in the Ahafo Ano North municipality of the Ashanti Region. 3news.com’s Benjamin Aidoo reports that the downpour ripped off the roofs of buildings including homes, schools and cocoa sheds. The Inter-Ministerial Taskforce on Illegal Mining has threatened to arrest anyone who would own up to plead for any Chinese illegal miner who would be arrested. The Taskforce said the rate at which Ghanaians own up to plead for amicable and compromised settlements whenever a Chinese illegal miner is arrested is hampering their operations.
