Police have arrested the prime suspect in the murder of Nana Kwadwo Afodour, the Asamponhene of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. Anumwar Sadat Mohammed, also known as Alhaji, was arrested in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso on Monday, September 16. Police said he was arrested “through a collaborative effort of the Ashanti and Upper East Regional Police Commands, the Ghana Embassy in Burkina Faso and the Interpol Ghana and Burkina Faso”. The Municipal Chief Executive for Gushegu in the Northern Region, Musah Issah, is alleged to have prevented the construction of an 8-kilometer feeder road that joins the Kunayili and Saala communities to the Gushegu township. The Kunayili and Saala communities are two new settlements in Gushegu but residents are cut off from accessing the rest of the Municipality during the rainy season. Iran has been banned by the International Judo Federation after it ordered Saeid Mollaei to pull out of the World Championships in Japan. Defending champion Mollaei ignored calls to withdraw from his match against Russia’s Khasan Khalmurzaev to avoid the prospect of facing Israel’s Sagi Muki later in the tournament.
