Zimbabwe’s former President Robert Mugabe will be buried in the National Heroes Acre monument in Harare, his family says, following a row with the government over his final resting site. Family spokesman and nephew Leo Mugabe says the date is yet to be determined. Before that there will be a public ceremony at the state cemetery in Harare on Sunday, followed by a ceremony at Mr Mugabe’s home village. A schoolgirl in Kenya has taken her own life after allegedly being shamed in class for having her period and staining her uniform. The 14-year-old’s mother said her daughter hanged herself after being humiliated by a teacher, Kenyan media reported. Police used tear gas to disperse a crowd of about 200 parents protesting outside the school, reports said. Kenya passed a law in 2017 to provide free sanitary towels for schoolgirls. An Accra-Nsawam passenger train on test run has derailed. The train derailed at Chinto, just a few meters away from Nsawam, our reporter said. After evacuating the passengers, Evelyn Tengmaa reported, engineers managed to decouple four coaches to ease the train to its destination. Operations of the train were suspended in October, 2018 for works on the railway following a derailment which left several passengers injured. Eighteen aspirants have been disqualified by the National Parliamentary Appeals Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the party’s parliamentary primaries in orphan constituencies. Two aspirants have also had their nominations referred to the National Executive Committee (NEC) for a substantive decision.
