India has published the final version of a list which effectively strips about 1.9 million people in the north-eastern state of Assam of their citizenship. The National Register of Citizens (NRC) is a list of people who can prove they came to the state by 24 March 1971, the day before neighbouring Bangladesh declared independence from Pakistan. Thousands of fans have gathered in Ivory Coast’s capital Abidjan to pay tribute to musician DJ Arafat. The 33-year-old Ivorian, whose real name was Ange Didier Huon, died in a motorcycle accident earlier this month. Hundreds of Ivorian artists took part in a stadium concert, with President Alassane Ouattara among its attendees. The future of over 230 Physician Assistant students at the College of Health in Yamfo would be in jeopardy over the accreditation of the school. The students have therefore placed an injunction on the College at the Sunyani High Court to stop examinations until the accreditation issues are solved. The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released provisional results of the 2019 Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE). However, the entire results of 19 candidates have been cancelled because they brought mobile phones to halls during the exams held in June. Subject results of 173 candidates have also been cancelled as they brought foreign materials to the exams halls. The numbers of people who have died in the current Ebola outbreak in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo has reached the 2,000 mark, government figures show.
