British warships are expected to patrol the Gulf of Guinea before the end of the year, according to UK Armed Forces Mark Lancaster, who is on a three-day visit to Ghana. The Ghana Education Service (GES) has dismissed reports that it has contracted a foreign firm to design the new school uniforms to be used in junior high schools from the 2019/2020 academic year. It said “it has not imported, neither, has it contracted any individual, locally or internationally to bring in new uniform for the Junior high schools”. The Ministry of Education says the community day senior high schools begun under the erstwhile John Dramani Mahama administration have not been abandoned as alleged. In a statement dated Wednesday, August 28, the Ministry said 25 have been completed so far since the Akufo-Addo-led government took office in January, 2017. The flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, has taken a swipe at the dams being built under the ‘One Village-One Dam’ policy of the Akufo-Addo administration.
