The Ghana Police Service (GPS) has adopted a new framework aimed at promoting relations between the Service and the media, enhancing safety of journalists and countering impunity for crimes against journalists in Ghana. The adoption of the Framework followed over a year-long series of multi-stakeholder engagements and consultations facilitated by the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) with funding support from UNESCO, OSIWA and IFEX. The Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has cleared four constituencies to elect their parliamentary candidates for the 2020 elections. The four constituencies are Assin South, Mfantsiman, Fanteakwa North and Ellembelle. The primaries will come off on Saturday, August 31. The opposition party held primaries in 157 constituencies last Saturday with nine sitting Members of Parliament losing their seats. The prime minister’s decision to suspend Parliament has prompted an angry backlash from MPs and opponents of a no-deal Brexit. The three suspects arrested in connection with the murder of two police officers on duty at the Buduburam Camp, near Kasoa, in the Central Region are expected to be taken to court on Friday, August 30, 2019. The police have arrested three suspects in connection with the shooting near the Liberia refugees’ camp on Wednesday afternoon. The three suspects; Ibrahim Zakaria, Issac Amissah and Dominic Commey were arrested a few hours after the incident. They are currently assisting the police in further investigations. A police officer has been shot dead by suspected armed robbers in an unregistered Toyota Camry near the Liberian refugees’ camp in Gomoa Buduburam in the Central Region, 3news.com can confirm. The Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Justice Sophia Akuffo, has commissioned a new District Magistrate Court in Wulensi in the Nanumba South District of the Northern Region. The edifice, which is the first of its kind in the district, was built with the District Development Facility of the assembly.
