Asante Kotoko suffered their second consecutive away defeat in the 2018/19 CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday after being beaten 3-1 by Zambia’s Nkana FC. Former President John Dramani Mahama says “absolutely nothing” will stop his party from emerging victorious in next year’s presidential elections. Mr Mahama on Saturday was re-elected as the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He beat competition from six others to emerge victorious, with a total of 95.24 per cent of valid votes cast. A judge in the US has set R Kelly’s bail at $1m (£766,500) after the singer was charged with sexually abusing four females, including three minors. The R&B star, whose real name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, has faced decades of sexual abuse claims. He has never been convicted and has previously denied other allegations. The power crisis in Nigeria has reared its head at some polling stations as officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (Inec) resorted to lights from smart phones to sort out ballots for counting.
