A delegation from the Bloomberg Philanthropies in the United States of America has paid a three-day working visit to the city of Accra to acquaint with the progress of work on road safety. Accra was selected among 10 cities in the world in 2015, when the Bloomberg Philanthropies launched the initiative for Global Road Safety to promote safer streets. The delegation toured the Lapaz Intersection on the N1 Highway in Accra to observe the road safety enhancement works carried out at the intersection. Inspector General of Police (IGP) David Asante-Apeatu has called for investigations into the disturbances at Bawaleshie in the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency to be sped up. He gave the directive to the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) after Thursday’s disturbances. The disturbances during the by-election in the Constituency left six people injured. A High Court in Accra has placed an injunction on the upcoming congregation of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) slated for Friday. The Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) has described as untrue accusations by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) that the voters’ register for Thursday’s by-election in the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency is not available.
