The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has weighed into the controversial appointment of former Ghana Maritime Authority Director-General Kwame Owusu as the board chairman of Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA). According to the largest opposition party, the appointment will only offer Mr Owusu the opportunity “to continue his abuse of the public purse”. The government is clamping down on online sports betting which it says is a curse on the country’s youth. Gambling has become a multi-million dollar industry in Kenya, where mobile phone technology has made placing bets very easy.
