Emmanuel Kwame Anokye, who shot to fame as a lookalike of popular high-life musician Daddy Lumba, has passed away in India. He was battling brain tumour, which had affected his eyesight. DL Junior, as he was affectionately called though later referred to as Anokye Supremo due to a legal challenge by Lumba, died on Wednesday. He had asked for support for surgery in India. The surgery was to remove the brain tumour. It was estimated to cost GH¢10,000. The disease relapsed into coma, from which he could not recover. Source: 3news.com|Ghana

An Ivorian MP and ex-sports minister has been sentenced to one year in jail and fined $520 (£400) for spreading fake news that incited violence. Alain Lobognan had tweeted on 9 January that the state prosecutor had ordered the arrest of a fellow MP. But the prosecutor said this was not the case and the tweet had caused demonstrations and violent clashes. Mr Lobognan, who has been on hunger strike for 10 days, believes the case is politically motivated. Protesters in Liberia are demanding President George Weah release the report of investigations he launched in September into how $100m (£76m) worth of Liberian currency allegedly went missing. In March, stories emerged that the newly printed bank notes intended for the central bank did not reach their destination. The notes allegedly vanished from containers in the main port in Monrovia and airport. The government ordered an investigation, and President Weah also asked the US for help with the inquiry.
