The final funeral rites for the late chief of Nanton, Naa Alhassan Abu is scheduled to begin on Friday, February 15. That day will see the shaving of the sons and daughters of the late chief, popularly called Nyabto. The late chief died last year. He was born E A Alhassan in 1966. The body recovered from the wreckage of a crashed plane is that of Cardiff City player Emiliano Sala, Dorset Police have said. Sala, 28, was travelling to Cardiff in a plane piloted by David Ibbotson, which went missing over the English Channel on 21 January. The Argentine’s body was recovered late on Wednesday after the wreckage was found on Sunday morning. Dorset Police confirmed the identification on Thursday night. Two bosses of an investment firm in Benin have been jailed for 10 years each for defrauding more than 150,000 people in a Ponzi scheme. The case has been described as the biggest financial scandal in Benin’s history and has been compared to the one run by Bernie Madoff in the US, reports French broadcaster RFI. The Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Roads and Transport has called for the scrapping of payment of road tolls and in the country. Samuel Ayeh-Paye said the payment of the road toll can be replaced with just GHp1 increment of the Energy Levy and that can take care of the tolls that are collected at the various toll booths in the country. A fire has engulfed a dormitory at the youth team training centre of one of Brazil’s biggest football clubs, killing 10 people, local media report. Three people were also injured when the fire broke out at Ninho de Urubu, the training ground of Flamengo football club, in Rio de Janeiro. The fire reportedly broke out as players were sleeping in the dorm. The cause is not yet known. Flamengo is one of Brazil’s biggest and best-known clubs. Source: BBC

Parliament’s Privileges Committee has suspended hearing on the alleged contempt case brought before it by Member for Asawase Constituency Muntaka Mubarak Mohammed against the Member for Assin Central Constituency, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.
