Eight persons believed to be the leaders of a group called Homeland Study Group Foundation have been arrested.  The group aims at seceding from Ghana to declare an independent country called Western Togoland. The arrest was made Sunday, May 5 in the course of a meeting to finalize arrangements to declare independent Western Togoland on May 9, 2019. The arrest was made by a team of intelligence agencies including the police and the military. A rainstorm has destroyed 56 houses and displaced 113 people in Kyekyewere in the Ahafo Ano North municipality of the Ashanti Region. 3news.com’s Benjamin Aidoo reports that the downpour ripped off the roofs of buildings including homes, schools and cocoa sheds. The Director-General of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Eric Nana Agyemang Prempeh, visited the Kyekyewere community to ascertain the level of destruction caused by the rainstorm. The Duchess of Sussex has given birth to a boy, the Duke of Sussex has announced. Prince Harry said they were “absolutely thrilled” and thanked the public for their support during the pregnancy. The Inter-Ministerial Taskforce on Illegal Mining has threatened to arrest anyone who would own up to plead for any Chinese illegal miner who would be arrested. The Taskforce said the rate at which Ghanaians own up to plead for amicable and compromised settlements whenever a Chinese illegal miner is arrested is hampering their operations. Suspected armed robbers on Sunday dawn attacked and injured a final year Psychology student on campus. Daniel Osei, who was cut on his arms and head, sustained several cutlass wounds. Forty-one people died after a Russian plane made an emergency landing and burst into flames just after takeoff from Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport. Dramatic video shows passengers using emergency exit slides to escape the burning Aeroflot aircraft. Survivors suggest the plane was struck by lightning, but Russia’s national carrier said only that it returned to the airport for technical reasons. Two children are among the dead.
