Police in the Northern Region have arrested a Chinese national, Helena Huang for attempting to transport two 24-footer trucks loaded with four containers of rosewood from Tamale. The trucks, according to the Northern Regional Police Crime Officer, Otuo Acheampong, were intercepted at the Vitting Barrier Tuesday, May 7 by officers on duty. He further indicated that the suspect Helen Huang, 43, had no logging, salvaging nor lumber certificate when she was arrested. The Volta Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has assured it is on high alert over the threat by the Homeland Study Group Foundation (HSGF) to carry out its action of restoring Western Togoland as an independent state from Ghana.
