The Speaker of Parliament has notified all 276 members (MPs) that the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament is set to reconvene on Tuesday, February 3. Right Honourable Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin exercised his powers in Article 112(1) of the 1992 Constitution to ask the lawmakers to reconvene. The members are set to report on the set date at 12:00pm. The First Session of the Ninth Parliament adjourned sine die on Friday, December 19, 2025, in time for the Christmas break.
The Governing Council of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has unveiled a new initiative aimed at securing the country’s borders. Dubbed ‘Project SECOBOR’, the initiative seeks to mobilise resources through partnerships with both the public and private sectors to enhance the Service’s capacity to deliver on its mandate of safeguarding Ghana’s borders. Many interested Ghanaians joined the virtual hearing of the immigration case involving former Finance Minister Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta in the US. However, lawyers of the embattled former public official immediately requested that the hearing be done in-camera. This request was quickly acceded to, forcing all those who had logged online taken offline. The hearing is at the Annandale Immigration Court in Virginia.
