The five school girls of Assin Atobiase D/A Basic School who met their untimely death after an articulated truck ran over them were laid to rest on Wednesday, November 21. The burial ceremony was held at the forecourt of the Assin South District Assembly in the Central Region. The girls with some school mates had gone to watch their school team train for an upcoming game. National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam Constituency Cassiel Ato Baah Forson has bemoaned the increase in the country’s public debt under the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) government just 18 months into power. Discussing the 2019 budget statement presented by Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta last Thursday, Mr Forson said from GH¢122 billion the debt has risen to GH¢170.8 billion. Yusif Abubakar also coached King Faisal, Heart of Lions, Techiman City, Berekum Chelsea and until recently Aduana Stars, with whom he won the 2016/2017 Ghana Premier League. The 2018 Open Doors report on international education has revealed that the United States hosted 1.09 million international students during the 2017/2018 academic year. This marks a 1.5 per cent increase over the prior year. The number of sub-Saharan African students hit a record high at 39,479, marking a 4.6 per cent increase over the prior year. There are currently 3,213 Ghanaian students enrolled at more than 630 tertiary institutions spread across the United States, a 3 per cent increase from 2017.
