The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) has responded to claims by the Minority in Parliament that the state’s oil management firm supported its board chairman, Freddie Worsemao Blay, in his campaign to be New Patriotic Party’s National Chairman. Three persons with the highest votes in the Vice Chair elections of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)  were declared winners on Saturday, as part of the 26th delegates’ conference. Seven persons had contested for the three positions at the 2018 Annual National Delegates’ Congress held at the Koforidua Technical University. A popular supporter of Hearts of Oak, Abdul Aziz Haruna Futa, has been elected as the National Nasara Coordinator of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He beat competition from two others to lay hands on the post. National Treasurer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kwabena Abankwa-Yeboah has been re-elected for another four-year term. Mr Abankwa-Yeboah beat five other contenders to emerge victorious at the Koforidua Tehchnical University Park, where the elections were held. The pharmacist polled 2,492 votes of the 5,510 valid votes cast to emerge winner. Second placed Nuhu Bayorbo Mahama polled 1,050 votes while Mary Posch-Oduro with 1,004 votes placed third. John Boadu will now assume the position of substantive General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) following his victory in Saturday’s national executive elections held during the 26th National Delegates’ Conference. The former National Organiser polled 4,277 votes to beat sole contender Richard Ahiagbah. Richard Ahiagbah polled 1,274 votes. The results were certified by the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC), who supervised the elections. Mr Boadu will succeed Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, who was handed an indefinite suspension in 2015, as the party’s new scribe.
