The Director General of Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), Paul Asare Ansah, has been relieved of his post by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. In a letter written and signed by his secretary Nana Asante Bediatuo on Tuesday, President Akufo-Addo thanked Mr Asare Ansah for “your service to the nation”. The appointment was terminated in accordance with a clause in his contract. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has urged contractors working on the 2nd phase of the Kumasi Airport to ensure that the project is completed within 24 months. With funding having been secured for the project, President Akufo-Addo stated that “there should be no excuse for any delays by contractors to generate cost overruns. Residents of Airport Ridge, a suburb of Sekondi-Takoradi in the Western Region, have expressed grave concerns about an abandoned story building occupied by squatters in the area. The weak story building, which was meant for a hotel, has been abandoned by the owner for several years now. Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius was referred to medical experts in Boston after contacting the club while on holiday in the United States. The 24-year-old German visited Massachusetts General Hospital and was diagnosed with concussion five days after the Champions League final. Hollywood film producer Harvey Weinstein has formally pleaded not guilty to rape and sexual assault charges. His appearance in New York Supreme Court on Tuesday came after he was indicted last week by a grand jury. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has given a directive to the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) to ensure that 50 per cent loans disbursed are given to women engaged in small-scale farming and businesses as part of his government’s goal of reaching gender equality.
