The head of US media giant CBS, Les Moonves, has resigned with immediate effect after allegations of sexual misconduct. CBS had been investigating Mr Moonves since allegations appeared in the New Yorker in July – and fresh accusations from six more women appeared on Sunday. Jack Ma, the executive chairman of Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba, has said he plans to step down in a year. The news, in a letter sent by Mr Ma to Alibaba customers and shareholders, follows conflicting reports over the weekend on the timing of his exit. Mr Ma, one of China’s richest men, will hand over the reins to Daniel Zhang, currently chief executive. Alibaba is one of the world’s most valuable companies – its shares nearly doubled in value last year. Mr Zhang will become executive chairman on 10 September 2019, the company said in a statement. US rapper Mac Miller has been found dead at his California home, US media report. Reports say the 26-year-old, who was open about his substance abuse, died from an apparent overdose. The rapper, whose real name was Malcolm James McCormick, rose to fame after topping US charts with his debut album in 2011. Argentina legend Diego Maradona has been appointed manager of Mexican second-tier club Dorados de Sinaloa. It follows the 57-year-old’s appointment as chairman of Belarusian Premier League side Dinamo Brest on a three-year deal in May. The organisers of the Oscars have announced they have postponed plans to introduce a new popular film category at their annual awards ceremony.
