One of the architects of Ghana’s local government structure, Professor Kwamena Ahwoi, says the Presidential Transition Act of 2012, Act 845, was misinterpreted by the current government led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Act 845 was enacted to enable smooth transfer of political power from one democratically elected president to another. The law, which was just a few years old at the time of coming into office of President Nana Akufo-Addo, has been interpreted, according to Prof. Ahwoi. “The way it has been interpreted has had a devastating effect on the security of tenure of public officers generally,” he stated…

That panhandling did not start in recent times is not disagreeable, but its intensity and conspicuousness in our public space have never been more. Poverty, lack of education, irresponsible parenting, laziness, and religion and culture are identified causes…

If former president John Mahama’s social media post a few days back is an indication of his intentions of making a return to the presidency, then just another spanner has been thrown into his wheels. This time not by potential challengers for the National Democratic Congress’ presidential primaries but by Professor Stephen Adei, a former Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). The learned professor, who is credited for reforming GIMPA from a sordid past to its present glory, stands by his accusations against the former president’s administration. The former rector and former UN ambassador to…
