The Queen and duchess were greeted by hundreds…

The civil society organisations, under umbrella body Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition, wrote to the Ministry on Wednesday, May 30, 2018, requesting the contract documents on traffic-monitoring to be carried out by Kelni-GVG. But in its response dated Monday, June 11, 2018, the Ministry acknowledged receipt of the letter but wanted more time to get the requested documents. “We are currently in the process…
The Minister of Communications, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has disclosed that changes have been made to the original physical specifications of the Kelni-GVG contract with government as per “belated” demands by the telecommunication networks. As per the changes, a further layer of protection and security has been added and that will ensure that only signaling information needed for purposes of traffic monitoring will be received by the National Communications Authority (NCA) and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), the implementing bodies. “No other information – either voice, SMS, video or data – will be received by Kelni-GVG servers,” Mrs Owusu-Ekuful explained in a…

Pressure group Strategic Thinkers Network-Africa (STRANEK) has filed a writ at the court against the National Identification Authority (NIA) for not accepting the voters’ ID as one of the documents of proof for the national registration exercise. The NIA – as per the National Identification Amendment Law, 2017 or Act 950 – requires a Ghanaian passport, a birth certificate or two Ghanaian witnesses for the registration of citizens for the new cards, to be known as Ghana Cards. But there has been disagreement from certain quarters over the requirements. Most of the dissentients want the voters’ ID cards to be…

Former President John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday posted a short video on Twitter subtly taking a swipe at Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia over the latter’s criticism some time back on the domestic currency’s depreciation against the US dollars. In the video, Dr Bawumia, definitely while in opposition, attributed the depreciation of the Cedi to weak fundamentals. He insinuated that the incumbent government was engaged in propaganda with the issue. In his tweet, Mr Mahama quoted the current exchange rate of the Cedi to the US Dollar and asked, ‘Weak fundamentals?’ https://twitter.com/JDMahama/status/1006839534536060928 Source: 3news.com|Ghana Follow @3Newsgh
Some executives of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) are not happy with a “blanket” directive from the Speaker of Parliament to criminalise health professionals who turn patients away as a result of unavailability of beds. According to two of the Association’s executives, the situation should not be looked at on the surface but in detail to stamp it out completely from the health sector. On Tuesday, Speaker Professor Mike Aaron Oquaye expressed worry about the syndrome of patients losing their lives after being turned away from health facilities due to lack of beds. He ordered a probe, particularly, into the…
