The Airport District Police Command has vowed to investigate and arrest floating commercial drivers who have planned to attack guards of 24 Hour Towing & Accident Recovery Services, which operates at the Kotoka International Airport. This follows the arrest and detention of 17 taxi drivers by the towing guards. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has nominated a former Director of Public Prosecutions, Jane Cynthia Naa Koshie Lamptey, as Deputy Special Prosecutor. The president presented his nominee to Parliament on Thursday. It has been referred to the Appointments and Vetting Committee. When approved, Ms Lamptey will assist Martin Alamisi Benz Kaizer Amidu at the Office of Special Prosecutor. Saturday, April 28 will witness the launch of the Clean Zongo Project, an initiative of the Ministry of Inner City and Zongo Development. The Project will be launched in Nima, one of the popular slums in Ghana’s capital, Accra. Serious fighting broke out in Sierra Leone’s parliament, just as the swearing-in of new MPs was getting under way following general elections last month. Members of the All People’s Congress (APC) disrupted proceedings because 16 of their number had been asked to leave the chamber after a high court injunction against them. Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has been summoned to appear before parliament’s lower chamber, the House of Representatives, to answer questions about the frequent outbreaks of violence in central Nigeria which have left hundreds dead this year.
