It assured members that the roadmap to the implementation of the MOU will start on Monday. The medical laboratory scientists withdrew their services on Monday, May 28, citing discrepancies in their salaries under the Single Spine Salary…
Two lions, two tigers and a jaguar that escaped their enclosures at a zoo in western Germany have been recaptured. The animals were found inside the zoo compound in Lünebach after a search involving a drone, officials told German media. Local residents had earlier been told to stay indoors. A bear also escaped from the privately owned Eifel zoo, but was shot dead, a local official told AFP. The animals broke out after flooding from a storm damaged their enclosures. A massive search was then launched involving police, firefighters and veterinarians. Local authorities did not give further details of the…
Hollywood director Brian De Palma says he is writing a “horror film” script based on the Harvey Weinstein scandal. De Palma, who directed the horror movie Carrie and the crime film Scarface in the 1970s and 80s, is “following it very closely”, he told AFP news agency. Mr Weinstein has been indicted on charges of rape and other counts of sexual abuse after handing himself in to New York police last week. His lawyer has said he denies the charges against him. “I know a lot of the people involved,” De Palma, 77, said in an interview with AFP in…
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been asked to rein Assin Central lawmaker Kennedy Agyapong in over his allegations against investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas. “I think the president can also call [Ken Agyapong] in and ask, ‘What do you have against Anas?’” This piece of advice was given by Kwame Jantuah, a panelist on TV3’s New Day, on Saturday. The Convention People’s Party (CPP) member said Mr Agyapong should come clear if he has evidence against Anas. The Assin Central Member of Parliament has gone on a verbal spree against the award-winning investigative journalist over his latest exposé. The…
The Executive Director of the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC), Duncan Amoah, was over the week slapped with a GH¢700 fine by an Accra labour court in his case with the Managing Director of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST). Mr Amoah received the sanction after failing to file relevant documents since the last hearing. Presiding judge Gifty Dekyem was worried about the failure of Mr Amoah to file the documents as the case delays by such action. She, therefore, set Monday, June 25 as the next date to hear the case. The two are in court…
Morocco’s bid to host the 2026 World Cup has passed a Fifa inspection – but is deemed “high risk” in three areas. The North African country will compete with a joint United States, Canada and Mexico bid in a vote on 13 June. Morocco scored 2.7 out of five in Fifa’s test while the joint bid scored four, with no “high risk” areas. Fifa said of the 14 stadiums submitted by Morocco, nine were yet to be built and the remaining five “require significant renovation or upgrading”. Only two of the 14 stadiums were deemed to have “sufficient levels of…

Mr Trump made the announcement after talks with a senior North Korean envoy at the White House. The envoy, General Kim Yong-chol, hand-delivered a letter from the North Korean leader to President Trump. Mr Trump at first said the letter was “very interesting” but later said he had not yet opened it. He also said the issue of formally ending the Korean War would be on the table in Singapore. The 1950-53 conflict only ended with…
“And after a while he returned to take her; and he turned aside to see the carcass of the lion, and behold, there was a swarm of bees in the body of the lion, and honey.” Judges 14:8 Many a times, our lives stink. It reeks of misfortunes and stagnancy. Sometimes, when we take a retrospect of our lives, all we see is the needless waste we made out of it. The only remains we have of it is the carcass. The biblical Samson, during one of his usual adventures, tore apart with his bare hands a young lion…
