There is brewing tension in East Mamprusi in the Northern Region as the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Hajia Alima Mahama, has been accused of a ploy to get President Nana Akufo-Addo’s nominee of district chief executive approved. Hajia Mahama is said to have called for fresh elections contrary to the Local Government Act after the president’s nominee was rejected last Thursday. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s nominee for the position of District Chief Executive for Talensi in the Upper East Region, Christopher Boatbil Someteima, has been rejected by assembly members. Mr Someteima failed to secure the two-thirds majority votes in Monday’s confirmation election. Out of a total of 30 votes, the nominee polled 19 votes with 10 voting against his nomination while one vote was rejected. Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi has been confirmed as the first Vice president of the Confederation of African Football. At the first meeting of the Ahmad Administration in Bahrain on Monday, the CAF Executive Committee confirmed Mr Nyantakyi as the second most powerful person in African football.
