Egypt’s newly appointed ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Wael Fathy Ahmed, paid a courtesy call on Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang this week for what officials described as a productive engagement aimed at strengthening long-standing bilateral ties.
According to the Office of the Vice President, the discussions reaffirmed the historic bond between Ghana and Egypt and the commitment of both nations to expand cooperation across sectors including education, technology and youth development. The Vice President assured the ambassador of the government’s support throughout his tenure.
The Vice President also conveyed Ghana’s appreciation to the Government and people of Egypt for the hospitality shown to President John Dramani Mahama during his recent visit to Cairo for the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, which she described as a cultural landmark of global significance.
The meeting underscored shared values such as unity, respect for diversity and collective responsibility in addressing global challenges. Both sides noted the potential of their youthful populations and expressed interest in partnerships focused on skills development, education and job creation.
In light of evolving geopolitical dynamics, H.E. Prof. Opoku-Agyemang emphasized the need to bridge knowledge gaps through training, technology and educational exchanges. Officials said both parties expressed optimism about expanding collaboration in the months ahead.
