The Interior Minister-designate, Ambrose Dery, has by an Executive Instrument imposed a curfew on Kpatinga and its environs in the Northern Region of Ghana. The curfew begins on Friday, January 27 from 1200am to 4:00am each day. The decision was taken on the advice of the Northern Regional Security Council. Two men said to be illegal chain saw operators arrested in a forest in Ghana were taken through corporal punishment of some sort. In the video above, the two were made to slap each other. Twenty-nine suspected illegal miners of various nationalities have been arrested in the Atiwa Rain Forest Reserve. They were rounded up Thursday evening by a team of Forestry Commission officers and the Rapid Task Force made up of security personnel in the Atiwa District of the Eastern Region. Gambian President Adama Barrow has finally returned home a week after being sworn in as Yahya Jammeh’s successor. The transition of power from Mr Jammeh, who ruled The Gambia for 22 years, to Mr Barrow, an estate agent, had proven problematic as the former rejected election results. The Ghana Health Service has dismissed reports of stolen vehicles in its Upper East Regional Directorate. According to the reports, Dr Koku Awoonor-Williams, who headed the Directorate in the recent past, is in the center of five missing vehicles.
