It’s time for Africa to take a firm grip of its resources. As a matter of fact the time is long overdue. The continent has iron, cobalt, uranium, gold, salt, diamond, copper, silver, bauxite, petroleum, cocoa beans etc; why is the continent not absolutely in charge of managing its own affairs? Communities in Ghana for instance where gold is mined lack basic amenities. The locals complain of unavailability of clean water since the mining activities over the years have destroyed the water bodies. Their homes are destroyed since the buildings crack and weaken while the roads that lead to these…
The Moon mission is planned for 2018, SpaceX says US private rocket company SpaceX has announced that two private citizens have paid to be sent around the Moon. The mission is planned for late 2018, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said, adding that the tourists “have already paid a significant deposit”. “This presents an opportunity for humans to return to deep space for the first time in 45 years,” he said. The two unnamed people will fly aboard a spaceship which is set for its first unmanned test flight later this year. Mr Musk said the co-operation of America’s Nasa space…

A man suspected of trying to advise the so-called Islamic State on missiles has been arrested in Australia. Haisem Zahab, 42, was arrested at Young, in rural New South Wales, on Tuesday, PM Malcolm Turnbull said. Police allege the electrician was helping to develop a long-range guided missile, and designing a laser device to warn of incoming munitions used by forces in Iraq and Syria. The arrest did not relate to a planned attack in Australia, Mr Turnbull said. Mr Turnbull (L) said the arrest was a reminder of the need for vigilanceMr Zahab was an Australian citizen and planned…
It is often said that the problem of Ghana or Africa is leadership. The African leader is weak and always in pursuit of her or his personal gains to the detriment of the citizenry. Africa needs a leader born of Africa, one who emanates from the slums, one who understands the plights of her or his people and is incorruptible. Yet different times in history Africa had great and mighty leaders, on the continent and across the globe; incorruptible, brave, intelligent leaders and with little external manipulations but they were gunned down by Africans. Patrice Lumumba, Muammar Gaddafi, Malcolm X,…
One hygiene product that has gained huge popularity in recent times is hand sanitizers. As people are becoming aware of the importance of proper hand-washing in reducing harmful germ transmission, several hand sanitizer products have flourished in the market. People are often seen rubbing a dab of sanitizer over their hands to eliminate any germs that may be clinging to their skin. Hand sanitizers are mostly used when there is no access to soap and water or not enough time to wash thoroughly. But with hand sanitizers, there are two questions that strike the mind. Can a hand sanitizer serve…

If you have ever seen how a cocoyam leaf touched by fire looks like, you would understand what I went through on that day, January 3, 2017. It was Tuesday. After I had reported for 3FM’s Midday News, from the Black Stars Square, on preparations ahead of the inaugural ceremony of the then president-elect, Nana Akufo Addo, I instantly felt as if I had received Manny Pacquiao’s punches. “Boss, I am resting a while in the stands at the Black Stars Square. I am very weak,” I sent a WhatsApp message to my editor. The driver on duty who was…
