Newmont Goldcorp is set to construct some roads within the Ahafo South communities as part of broader efforts to boost local economic development and ensure a more efficient movement of goods and services within these communities. The Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications says its members will now comply with government’s directive asking them to stop upfront deduction of the Communication Service Tax (CST). The telcos however refused to absorb the 9 percent CST as was done in the past when the rate was at 6 percent. The University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) over the weekend graduated its first Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) candidate and conferred Masters Degree on nine others at the institution’s first special congregation ceremony in Sunyani. The Minority NDC in Parliament has accused the Akufo-Addo-led government of “secretly” recruiting party activists into the security agencies. It is therefore demanding “immediate cancellation” of the exercise for 2019.
