Parts of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) and surrounding communities are flooded following an all-night downpour, causing early Wednesday morning academic work to be halted. The UCC Students’ Representative Council has asked students to stay safe indoors irrespective of their academic schedules. Flood waters are overflowing in hostels, roads and gutters in the university areas forcing some lectures to be called off. Democrats in the US House of Representatives have published a resolution setting out the next steps in their impeachment efforts against President Donald Trump. The motion sets out a more public phase of the inquiry and hands the lead role in hearings to the chair of the intelligence committee, Adam Schiff. Kwesikum, a village near Agona Duakwa in the Agona East District in the Central Region was thrown into shock Tuesday when a 55- year- old teacher at the A.E.D.A Basic School was found hanging dead on his farm in an apparent suicide. Excessive alcohol consumption is a major risk factor for liver cancer, Dr Asare Offei, a surgeon at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, has said. “Excessive alcohol intake is the main cause of cirrhosis of the liver, which happens when scar tissue builds up on the liver, stopping it from working properly,” he added. He said drinking alcohol increases the risk of cancers of the mouth, esophagus, pharynx, larynx, and liver in men and women.
