A teacher who allegedly defiled his 15-year-old pupil after showering her with gifts at Dome Pillar Two has appeared before an Accra Circuit Court. George Odum Mensah aged 24, has pleaded not guilty to defilement. Madam Annacleta Viiru, the Upper West Regional Girls’ Education Officer at the Ghana Education Service (GES), has said no girl has ever completed the Sawoubea Junior High School (JHS) in the Wa East District since its establishment about 25 years ago. Police are continuing to question four suspects over the deaths of 39 people whose bodies were found inside a lorry in Essex. A man was detained at Stansted Airport on Friday on suspicion of manslaughter and conspiracy to traffic people. Two people from Warrington were also held on the same charges, while the lorry driver has been held on suspicion of murder since Wednesday. Mr Vincent Sowah Odotei, Deputy Minister for Communications has revealed that government is making strides in its fight against cyber-crime. He said statistics from the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) indicated that, the country recorded financial losses from cyber-crime to the tune of $205 million dollars as at 2018. The grave site of one of Kenya’s best-known anti-colonial fighters, Dedan Kimathi, has been identified 62 years after he died, a foundation set up in his name says. Kimathi, a leader of the 1950s Mau Mau uprising against British colonial rule, was executed in 1957. He was buried in an unmarked grave, reportedly in Nairobi’s Kamiti prison. The Dedan Kimathi Foundation says that is where the site has now been identified. It does not give any details of how it was found, or how it is known that it is the right grave site.
