Gold-dealership firm Menzgold Ghana Limited has announced the commencement of validation of documents of customers in order to make arrangements to settle them all. The validation is scheduled to begin on Monday, October 28 and end on November 28, 2019. The Electricity Company of Ghana Limited (ECG) has confirmed the termination of the private sector participation transaction agreements with Power Distribution Services Ghana Limited (PDS). The termination was done on 23rd October, 2019, it said. “ECG has therefore assumed full operational and financial control of the electricity distribution business in the Southern Zone of Ghana with immediate effect,” the company said in a statement. The bodies of 39 people have been found in a lorry container in Essex. Police were called by the ambulance service shortly before 01:40 BST after the discovery at Waterglade Industrial Park in Eastern Avenue, Grays. The lorry driver, a 25-year-old man from Northern Ireland, has been arrested on suspicion of murder. Essex Police said the vehicle travelled from Bulgaria and entered the country via Holyhead, Anglesey, on Saturday. Early indications are that 38 adults and one teenager have died, the force said. Government has terminated the Power Distribution Services concession agreement with the Electricity Company of Ghana with immediate effect, Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has announced. A total of 18 passengers escaped death narrowly on the Aflao-Accra highway Tuesday evening after an STC bus with the registration number GE 2176 16 ran into a herd of cattle crossing the road at Agbakofe in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region. Two persons, a man and a lady, have committed suicide by hanging to end matters following misunderstandings with their respective lovers on Thursday and Saturday at Agbagblakope and Agblekpui, suburbs of Aflao, in the Ketu South Municipality. The government of the United States of America says Ghana’s decision to terminate the concession agreement between the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and Power Distribution Services Ghana Limited (PDS) was wrong. It said its independent investigations of the agreement proved that it was valid. Therefore, a decision by the West African nation to cancel the agreement is “unwarranted”.
