Fifteen senior officers of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority at the Tema Collection point have been interdicted for allegedly causing financial loss to the state through tax evasion.  Their monthly salaries have also been cut by one-third and have been barred from entering the premises of the entering the premises of the GRA until otherwise directed. The Ghana Revenue Authority has failed to achieve its target for the first quarter of 2017. Of the GHC7.611 target, it managed to generate GHC7.396 million, thus a shortfall of GHC215.8 million The figure, however, showed a nominal growth of 17 per cent and real growth of 3.5 per cent over the same period for the year 2016. The Revenue Authority has a target of GHC34 billion for 2017. Seven people, including armed robbers and a National Democratic Congress chairman, have been shot dead at Tatale in the Northern region in a gun battle that foiled a robbery attack Sunday evening. The gun shoot-out started when some gun wielding armed robbers arrived on a motorbike at the Tatale Market at about 4:30pm Sunday in an attempt to rob some motorbike dealers in the market of their sales. Twenty-two students of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) have been rusticated after investigations cited them for their involvement in a clashes between students of the University, University of Ghana (UG) and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in March this year. A group of the “Chibok girls” freed from Nigeria’s Boko Haram militants have been reunited with their families. The 82 girls, who were part of a huge group kidnapped from their school in 2014, are in the care of security services in the capital, Abuja. Their parents travelled by bus through the night to meet their daughters. More than 100 of the 276 girls, taken from the town of Chibok, are still being held by the militant group.
